1985 VW Vanagon Renovation and Tour

Updated: Dec 27, 2020

One look at Ben's beloved VW Vanagon, Jozette, is sure to bring instant joy with her sunny yellow paint job. Ben purchased his van with about 260,000 miles on it and has since made a number of mechanical, interior, and exterior changes. Jozette's first big overhaul was getting an engine with fewer miles on it, updated transmission, and new fuel lines. Ben has created an inviting and highly functional living space within his van. Some of our favorite features include a sunset roof-deck, an oversized skylight, and clever storage throughout. Check out our full tour of Jozette below.

One of the only interior details Ben left in his van was the fun skull gear shifter, he replaced the headliner in the cab to use as a pinboard, built a safe into the floor for keeping valuables, and added a swivel on the passenger seat to create more seating options for guests.

This awesome "sunset tower" can hold up to four people!

Ben created an elastic storage system to use throughout Jozette to keep all his things in place down bumpy roads.

You can follow Ben's travels in North America and Europe on his Instagram @funwagen or his website.
